Walking With Mary book review
Dr. Edward Sri, author of Walking With Mary, provides his readers a richer and fuller grasp into the person of Mary, including a closer look at her humanity, her response to God’s call in her life and her journey through faith.
Three things stood out to me while reading through this book.
- Comprehensive: Dr. Sri has uncovered the great depth of who Mary is. He explains with great detail the limited scriptures attested to Mary. This, paired with his own extensive study outside of the scriptures, provides a solid guide into her life.
- Insightful: Walking With Mary can serve as a great tool for teaching others about Mary. I know a lot of Protestants question our devotion to her and this book may give just the right insight. This book would also make an excellent selection for a book study. The author says, “It is my hope, therefore, that whether you are of a Catholic, Protestant, or other faith background, this book may help you to know, understand, and love Mary more, and that it may inspire you to walk in her footsteps as a faithful disciple of the Lord in your own pilgrimage of faith.”
- Refreshing: I have only read a few Marian books, but found this one to be delightfully refreshing, mainly due to the two things listed above. It truly has given me a greater knowledge and appreciation into Mary, especially in her deep rooted faith and her willingness to abandon herself to God’s Divine Providence.
Since I’ve been on a Mary kick the last couple of weeks, I was thrilled when Image books contacted me to review Walking With Mary. It is a treasure and one that will remain on my bookshelf. Read it to experience our Blessed Mother in a greater and richer way. It takes you on a journey where you truly will walk with her.
